A practical order for the first week
- Keep the first space small, quiet, and predictable.
- Keep food, water, litter, and hiding options easy to find.
- Record what you know and mark unknown details as unknown.
- Arrange an early veterinary visit and go sooner if the cat is unwell.
- Add access and contact gradually at the cat's pace.
When not to wait
Breathing difficulty, collapse, repeated seizures, severe bleeding, suspected poisoning, inability to urinate, or rapidly worsening weakness needs urgent veterinary attention. A web guide cannot replace an examination.
