A budget based on your local quotes
Cat adoption cost calculator for the first month and year
Prices vary by country, clinic, age, health, and household. Enter costs you have actually checked instead of relying on a global average that may not fit your cat.
It adds your one-time setup, recurring monthly care, and chosen emergency reserve. The entries stay in this browser and are not stored or sent.

Use zero when an item does not apply, and keep a quote or receipt beside each estimate.
Your planning estimate
- First month including reserve
- Recurring monthly care
- First year including reserve
- Emergency reserve included
These totals use only the numbers entered above. They are not a quote, price guarantee, insurance recommendation, or substitute for veterinary advice.
Separate setup, recurring care, and emergency capacity
A low adoption fee does not mean a low first month. A carrier, litter tray, scratcher, first examination, missing preventive care, and a food transition can arrive together. Recurring food, litter, and routine care continue after setup purchases stop.
Use real local inputs
Ask the adoption organization what is already completed and obtain records. Ask a clinic what an initial examination covers, and price the food and litter you can reliably buy. Enter uncertain items separately rather than hiding them inside one round number.
The same total can mean different risk in different households. A reserve is not insurance and insurance is not a reserve; review exclusions, waiting periods, deductibles, and local access before deciding how the two work together.
Revisit the budget when the cat's needs change
Growth, chronic conditions, dental care, moving, travel, and aging can change recurring costs. Save a screenshot or print the result if useful, then update the inputs when you have better information.
